Art of Kilforth, Update #2 - FINAL HOURS!
almost 2 years ago – Tue, Feb 28, 2023 at 04:42:34 AM

Hello there,

It's the last day of the campaign and I want to thank each and every one of you for joining us in making something creative and truly beautiful together. I'd also like to thank every single one of you for making our social media feeds and Kickstarter comments sections the most languid and lovely places on the internet. Seriously, as busy as we are behind the scenes to make this happen, whenever I duck back in to check on comments and messages this whole campaign has simply felt like one long pleasant dream – in a world of angry orators, fiery forums, and t'internet trolls our Hall or Nothing campaigns continue to consistently feel like genuine places of peace, and with your supportive comments, friendliness to new backers, and encouraging curiosity you guys have built these terrific safe havens for us all. Thank you.

For a tiny publisher like us, deviating from the norm and going all in on implementing an Artbook based on our little known albeit burgeoning world of Kilforth was certainly something of a risk. But then looking back on our shared history of delivered games, whether they encompass the fantastical mythological ambitions of Kilforth, or broken endworlds devoid of all colour, or deeply obscure titles of historicity such as Tears to Many Mothers or Scum of the Earth, all of our Kickstarters have been a risk, and all of them have contributed to a steadily growing and rather wonderful legacy that I'm tremendously proud to look back on, and equally excited about when looking forward to what the future holds.

So as we approach these final moments of the Kickstarter, let's enjoy how far we've come in this campaign, and how far we've come as a company in the last 8 years, to a point where we can develop and manifest gorgeous creative works which are carried upon your generous and sturdy shoulders, right the way through to delivery. So whichever level you've pledged at, and whether you've been with us from the outset or if you're brand new to the world of Kilforth and Hall or Nothing, welcome, thank you, and have a brilliant week!

From Out of Nowhere!

'This thing came out of nowhere! Backing small publishers - this is the one to check out' – the Art of Kilforth Artbook features in the Liege of Games round-up:

Historic Epic Battle System

The first print run of 1815, Scum of the Earth is sold out now, but we still have a few copies of the first two games in the Historic Epic Battle System series available in this campaign. If you're wondering what the fuss is about here are a couple more reviews to whet your appetite:

'Another Amazing Entry – Every card is gorgeous and makes the theme really come out in all its Napoleonic Glory. But other than the fantastic art, the gameplay is well-structured and enjoyable' – WizardRonin

'Tristan Hall did a wonderful job of designing a simple system while upholding strategic integrity. If the other 2 entries are anything like 1815, Scum of the Earth, then the Historic Epic Battle System is worthy of many more entries' – Geeks Under Grace

And for now I'll leave you on another upbeat and lovely note: Gloom of Kilforth: A Fantasy Quest Game features in the People's Choice Top 100 Games, and has now done so for 6 years running!

That's all for now, cheers!

Art of Kilforth, Update #1 - Funded in 20 Minutes + Kickstarter's Project We Love!
almost 2 years ago – Thu, Feb 16, 2023 at 03:57:51 PM

Hello there and welcome,

What an epic opening day, funded in 20 minutes and bagged the coveted Kickstarter's Project We Love badge in the same time! Every single launch is fraught with nerves and excitement here at Hall or Nothing, because it always feels like something new and unique – and in this case it's another gigantic leap into the unknown - our first non-game Kickstarter, a gorgeous artbook. Our mindset going is 'Of course we are desperate for the long overdue Art of Kilforth Artbook, but how do we know if you guys will turn up for it?' Well of course you did, and in beautiful, glorious numbers too, and we thank you so, so much for being here to allow us to follow our wayward fantastical dreams once more.

For context to those of you new to Hall or Nothing, this is now our tenth (!) Kickstarter. The factories are open again after Chinese New Year, so the files have been submitted for our latest Fantasy Quest game Call of Kilforth and it's due to ship out this summer alongside this incredible artbook, which is a lovingly curated compilation of over 200 images across all of the Kilforth games and expansions. Francesca and I feel so happy to be able to share it with you. It was always a personal goal that my games would be able to stand up on your shelves next to any other game on the market, including my own personal favourite games, and the awesome hard work from our artists have cemented that, and then some, for generations to come.

This beautiful tome is a love letter to their stunning work, to the mystical lands of Kilforth, and to all of you who have enabled us to build this world together. As a two-person team we literally could not do any of this without you, and for that you have our eternal gratitude, so thank you once again for embarking on another epic journey with us into the mists and gloom of this utterly unique fantasy world.

I'm here for all of your comments and questions, and will try to answer every single post that I can whenever I have the chance in our always super-friendly Hall or Nothing forums here on Kickstarter or in our awesomely lovely Facebook group, so feel free to ask away, and happy gaming!
